Coming straight off the streets of Philadelphia, the humble yet coarse voiced Lui Blonco brings it to you and lets you know everything there is to know about him. Growing up in the Logan section of North Philadelphia the 5’11 baby faced rapper could fool you. Though he may look innocent in his ways this marvel in the making spits the realist shit.Since most of the so-called rappers in Philly have been on that Flashy, murda, gangsta bandwagon, Lui Blonco music remains based on reality. Only 23 years old he seems as if he were in the game for 23 years. Not only does he write all of his own material, but also he writes entire songs. He can write about something that never happened before but it seems so real, that is an artist.
He says the reason why his music is so real is because of where he comes from. He never was the little boy that played in the park, he was the little boy who hung on the corner of Thirteenth & Courtland. Which was surrounded by abandoned houses, drug addicts, drug dealers, crap games, shoot outs, and people twice his age. Because of his environment school was not important so after eleventh grade he dropped out. Instead he was on the corner of 13th & Courtland. All of this played a factor in how his life would turn out. All he wanted to do was rap, but hanging around such bad influences would steer him astray. No matter what he was doing, there would be someone who hung on this same corner there to tell him to stay focused. Although all of this was going on he remained attached to music. He grew up listening to artist such as Rakim, NWA, Scar face, and Kool G Rap. Out of all the music that he listened to only a chosen few inspired him to continue to write. The few are Tupac, Jay-z, Biggie Smalls, Nas, and DMX.
Knowing that he wanted to rap would be putting it to soft; feeling that he would be a rap artist was his way of looking at the game. He was only eleven years old when he began rapping back in 1994. Then in 1995 he and two other friends formed a group called L.A.S. (Logan Attack Squad) which was active for three years. The group would survive for three years doing shows at all the nightclubs in Philly, promotional shows and even opening acts for those who were Professionals and performing here in Philly. In 1998 L.A.S formed a new group adding on two new members one being a female (Jade) and another male (Mike Knox). The group was called "Big Faces". This group would last for eight months and then Lui Blonco would then go solo. All of these events had an effect on how he viewed the path he was on, and which way to go with his career. One devastating event was the loss of one of his best childhood friends to street violence and another sent off to prison for more than 5 years, all in one breath.
Now that he was solo Lui Blonco began recording his demo. He was never average he always appreciated different sounds. This would explain why even on his demo he has a variety of producers streaming from Gerard Thomas (Destiny's Child Confessions) to Teflon (Eve & Jadakiss Got It All) also Mercury of MegaHertz ( Bad Boy For Life) along with Ron Browz and Jamie Hawkins, just to name a few. He even has Philadelphia’s Hottest Producers, Sean Level, Ruggedness of Platinum Bound, and Lee of Direct hits. Looking at all of these top shelf producers he has a taste for hits and an ear for hot tracks. Not only was he moving along with his music but also he began building relationships with people in the right places. After separating with his manager Lamont Ball (RCA Records) he realized he could do things on his own. He then began building other relationships with people who would play a huge role in his career. Beginning with his own producer Sean Level and own engineer Ed 'O.
Although he has made new friends in high places there is nothing new about him. He is still spitting heat, he is still focused and he is still waiting for perfect timing and the right situation, while waiting he continues to record and make hits and performing for all the hottest artist just to name a few, Grammy award winner Kanye West, John Legend, Mase, Lil Kim, Uncle Luke, Noreaga and the list goes on. While still knocking down doors of these exec's, Lui is still in the booth recording non stop now sitting on 80 or more original joints. While the game is not what it used to be, he has patience and perserverance which seperates him from everyone else in the game thats in it just because...
